MzVee’s new single “Enjoyment” brings four women into the same musical frame: the Ghanaian singer, Sista Afia, Nigeria’s Ugoccie and Sefa. Produced by Egar Boi, the song arrives as a collaboration across a border that West African popular music has been crossing for years through radio, streaming, concerts and social media.
Celebration as a shared language
Starr FM describes “Enjoyment” as a celebration of life. That framing is useful because the title is not merely a party instruction. In a region where many listeners carry the pressure of work, transport, family obligations and rising costs, a song that makes room for pleasure can feel like a small claim to breathing space. The guest list makes that invitation broader, bringing together Ghanaian and Nigerian voices rather than asking one artist to carry every perspective alone.
Cross-border collaborations are often discussed as market strategy, and there is truth in that. Each feature opens a door to another audience. But a good collaboration has to work as a musical exchange too. The arrangement must leave space for distinct voices, and the performers have to sound present rather than assembled for a playlist. “Enjoyment” puts the conversation between the four artists at the centre of the release.
Women at the centre of the frame
There is also a visibility question. African pop is full of influential women, but high-profile collaborations among women are still treated as special events. A four-artist release puts that presence in plain view. It gives each performer a chance to bring her own audience, style and stage identity into the song while sharing the same spotlight.
For MzVee, the release adds another moment to a career built across Ghanaian pop and Afrobeats. For Sista Afia and Sefa, it connects established audiences with a new track. Ugoccie’s appearance strengthens the Ghana-Nigeria bridge at the centre of the record. The next measure will be how listeners take it up and whether the collaboration leads to a live performance where the four voices meet in person.
“Enjoyment” is a reminder that regional music does not need to wait for a global gatekeeper before it becomes international. West African listeners have always made those connections themselves. This single gives the connection a new chorus.
